English learning involves the grasp of four basic skills: listening,speaking,reading and writing,among which English writing is the reflection of English comprehensive abilities.However,most students are not interested in English writing and have little confidence to improve their English writing abilities,and the students are even anxious about the English writing class.As a result,most students do not know what to write and how to start writing for a given topic,which makes the English writing become a difficult part for senior high school students.Therefore,the author applied the process writing approach in the English writing class with an aim to change the students' attitudes towards the English writing,enhance their writing interest and improve their writing abilities.The present study aims to answer the following two questions:1.What's the effect of Process Writing Approach on the senior students' attitudes and interest in English writing?2.To what extent can the Process Writing Approach improve the students' writing ability?The author applied the process writing approach according to the procedure of process writing approach(pre-writing,drafting,responding,revising,rewriting,final draft)in the English writing teaching.The subjects are 50 students from Class 4 Senior 1 in No.16 Middle School of Zhengzhou.The action research method is adopted and it lasts about four month.The instruments like questionnaire,interview and tests are used to collect the data.From the analysis of the questionnaire,interview and tests,it can be concluded that the process writing approach to some extent improves the students' interest and confidence,and changes their negative attitudes towards the English writing.Moreover,the process writing approach improves students' writing abilities.Under the process writing approach,students' writing speed gets higher than before,the writing contents are more substantial.In addition,they have mastered more writing strategies and formed some good writing habits.Therefore,the conclusion can be drawn from the teaching practice that the process writing approach has an effect on the students' English writing,and it can be applied flexibly in English writing teaching.
