Research Of Observing Preschool Children By Using App

As the philosophy and practice in Early Childhood Education innovates,the subjectivity of children has been more and more important.The preschool curriculum and child evaluation have been changing into child-centred style.Therefore,observing children and recording their learning journey is playing a role in teachers' daily practice.As we all know,the technology has been developing rapidly in the past twenty years.Information Technology has been involved in education area and affected Early Childhood Education as well.Teachers are not only using digital devices and multimedia resources in their teaching,but also using them as tools in their daily observations.According to the variety of available digital tools and energy and time teachers spend in doing observations,the research focused on how to improve the current observation system to reduce teachers' workload and stress.This research started in the Early Childhood Education Department in an international school.It adapts documentary analysis,interview,observation and comparative method in order to reveal the problem of current observation system and make suggestion for improvement.On this basis,the author selects a suitable App that can meet teachers' needs and encourages the teachers to use it in practice in order to promote the efficiency of doing observations.The current observation system increases teachers' workload with repetitive work.'Explain Everything' is chosen as a suitable App to improve the observation system.It can collect different kinds of data and systemize the observations so teachers may assess the children and the curriculum by reviewing them regularly.Observations done by this App can easily be shared.The research shows that using App for observation is efficient and environment friendly.The individualization and differentiation of each child is respected.It benefits the teachers.
