"The mathematics curriculum standards of senior high school (Experimental manuscript)" in China requires that mathematical modelling activities should be launched in period of high school. Mathematical modelling which mentioned by the curriculum standards refers to mathematical modelling activities attended by every high school students. Comparing with traditional mathematical modelling curriculum, mathematical modelling to ordinary high school students has its own characteristics. And mathematics textbooks, as the carrier of mathematical modelling contents, should do their best to give expression to them. On the other hand, the curriculum standards of high school hope that by means of learning of related contents, students' ability of real-world problem solving would be gradually developed, which should be reflected by mathematical modelling contents. The research will base on the experience of other researches, and discuss the essence and characteristics of high school mathematical modelling. Then the mathematical modelling contents in senior high school textbooks will be analyzed. And finally, advices will be given on the design of modelling contents. The question of the research contains:What is mathematical modelling contents in senior high mathematics textbooks? What are the characteristics of them? How do mathematical modelling contents present in current textbooks? And how to re-design them?The paper is consisted of the following parts:Part 1 is introduction, which discusses the background, meaning, question and means of the research.Part 2 is literature review, which reviews the related researches of Chinese and foreign researchers.Part 3 defines mathematical modelling of middle and high school, according the analysis of literatures, and discusses the elements of the designing of mathematical modelling contents. The conclusion of this part is that the definition of high school mathematical modelling contains:1) going through complete modelling process; 2) the problem initiated under some situation; 3) models used in the process of problem solving. And the constitution of mathematical modelling contents in textbooks includes 6 elements.Part 4 is based on the discussion of characteristics on mathematical modelling contents in context, and arranges, codes and compares mathematical modelling contents in some Chinese textbooks. Some contents are selected to be re-designed.Part 5 is conclusions, which make some advice on modelling activities in senior high school. And then conclude the whole research and do some prospects.
