Sustainable development is an important part of environmental education and one of the strategic measures to implement the basic national policy of environmental protection in China.Sustainable development of this large system includes environmental,social and economic three aspects,which reflects the importance of environmental protection and environmental education in today's society.As a carrier of national education concept,to a certain extent,textbook reflects the level of development of the country at this stage.The content of environmental education in the textbook is the carrier of environmental education.There exists differences in presented methods of environmental education in each country's textbook.This paper chooses the textbooks of high school chemistry textbooks(hereinafter referred to as "PEP Education textbooks")published by the People's Education Press in China,and the mainstream science textbook "Chemistry: Concepts and Applications"(hereinafter referred to as American textbooks)using literature and comparative studies In the textbook,the introduction,the catalog,the text;the exercises,the activities,the graphs;the annotations,the appendices,the indexes are divided into the form of the research,and the summary.Draw the following conclusions:In guidance system,there is very little difference on the content of environmental education in the introduction between the Sino-US textbooks.In the catalogue part,the PEP Education textbook has a clear catalogue related to environmental education,while the US textbook is the opposite.There are no indexes related to environmental education in the index section both of them.It is not mentioned indoor environmental education in the guidance system in Chinese textbooks,which exists more obvious deficiencies compared to the American textbooks.It is suggested that the PEP Education textbook should add the contents of the indoor environmenteducation in the guidance part.In the appendix section,it should rich the content related to environmental education.In the text system,the content of environmental education is relatively comprehensive in PEP Education textbooks and American textbooks.The content of environmental education in PEP Education textbooks is more than that of American textbooks.In the activity part,PEP Education textbooks are less practical than American textbooks.In the chart section,the picture in the PEP Education textbook is slightly pendulum compared to the picture of the American system.It is suggested that the textbook of PEP Education textbooks should set a part related to the nuclear industry in the text system.It should add the experiment related to the environmental education in the activity part.In the chart part,it will be organized into a series of image for the pictures related to environmental education and other pictures.In the text auxiliary system,the PEP Education textbook is similar to the American one in the comments section,but the types are not rich as American textbook.There is no detail in the distinctions of American textbooks.In the exercises section,the number of exercises related to environmental education in PEP Education textbooks is more than that of American chemistry textbooks.In the appendix,American textbooks have appendices specifically related to environmental education,which are not available in PEP Education textbooks.It is suggested that in PEP Education textbook,it should rich categories in the comments section in the text of the auxiliary part,strengthen the investigation of the implementation of environmental education in the exercises,and increase modules related to environmental education in appendix.In short,The two versions of textbooks are reflected at a different degree in the content of environmental education.Each has their own advantages.The PEP Education textbooks should learn the advantages from the US textbooks.
