Learning and teaching grammar plays a very important role in senior English teaching in China.Grammar lays a foundation for students to learn language knowledge and language components.At present,grammar teaching occupies certain time in senior teaching and at the same time it faces many challenges in the new reform of English course in senior schools.There are many different methods of teaching grammar in senior schools and there is also a trend that grammar teaching is gradually neglected,which parallels with traditional grammar methods.Neglecting grammar teaching in senior schools may improve students’ abilities in listening,and speaking while students’ abilities in understanding,reading and reading decline.And the traditional methods lay too many rules of grammar for students to apply mechanically which destroy the interests of learning for students.The new curriculum clearly requires to pay more attention to the components of using language for students which aims to change the overvalue on explanations about the words and the rules of grammar.Therefore,the present teaching focus mainly falls on what kind of grammar teaching method can practically improve students’ abilities of using language and interests in learning.The author of the thesis has been teaching in senior school for many years.In teaching practice the author has created the method of drawingpictures in grammar teaching which has a good effect.Picture-drawing method in senior English grammar teaching is a method which mainly applies pictures,graphs,and lines static and dynamic in grammar teaching to illustrate and disclose the grammar rules and its essence.The method also focuses on stimulating students’ interests in English learning and helps students to master English grammar well meanwhile to ameliorate our teaching process in senior English teaching.The method is based on many useful theories,especially mind-mapping theory.The study is done in experimented class and the controlled class.The writer mainly focused on whether the picture-drawing method can arouse students’ interest in grammar learning and whether the method can promote students’ scores in exams.The picture-drawing method breaks through the traditional grammar teaching methods which both motivates students’ interests in learning and promotes their scores in grammar exams.What’s more,it is a new method in grammar teaching from the angle of reform of teaching,which provides a new choice in methods applied in the senior grammar teaching.The writer will continue to do research about the picture drawing method. |
