With the development of global economy internationalization,globalization and integration,the communicative activities of countries is increasing,the communication becomes more extensive,intercultural communication has become an important part of international exchanges.Language is an important way of communication,and its meaning does not only lie in communicating,which also bears the responsibility of cultural transmission and inheritance,thus it has put forward higher requirements for teachers' intercultural awareness in English teaching.In this study,we investigated and studied the current situation of English teachers' intercultural awareness by the way of literature,questionnaire,classroom observation,and interview.From the result of the investigation,we know that teachers are lack of intercultural awareness in junior school English teaching,which are mainly due to the existing examination system constraints,and most teachers are lack of on-the-job training and fail to pay enough attention to cultivating intercultural awareness.In the end,according to the survey result and the analysis of reasons,five feasible suggestions are put forward for the study on intercultural awareness of junior middle school English teachers.The paper consists of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction includes the research background,purpose and significance of the research,research ideas and methods and related literature review.The text consists of five chapters: the first chapter explores the basic theory of cultivating intercultural awareness.After a thorough understanding of the characteristics of language and the relationship between them,we can understand more deeply the significance of studying the intercultural awareness of English teachers.The second chapter mainly summarizes the necessity and the implementation principle of intercultural awareness training at the present stage.The third chapter makes an investigation on junior English teachers' intercultural awareness.The fourth chapter talks about the current situation and reason analysis on the cultivation of the intercultural awareness of teachers.The fifth chapter puts forward some constructive strategies for cultivating the intercultural awareness of junior middle school English teachers.The conclusion part summarizes this study,analyzes the limitations of the paper,and gives out the prospect of future work.
