Traditional Chinese culture,as an academic synonym,is the crystallization of both the wisdom and knowledge of Chinese nation and the root of its culture.However,the current discussion about the value of traditional Chinese culture lies in not only the importance in culture,but also the significance in moral education.Hit by scientism and western values,the current moral education in colleges suffers from lack of humanistic spirit,deterioration of cultural nature which has led to college students having no faith or humanistic spirits,their separation between moral cognition and moral behaviors and other unhealthy tendencies.However,excellent moral education resources in traditional Chinese culture play a vital role in improving college student's moral quality and moral education in colleges.Therefore it is of great significance to implement the traditional Chinese culture education in colleges and universities,exploit its deep moral functions,and make it add new energy to the improvement of moral education in colleges and universities by means of combining the concerned problems of moral education.Firstly,the article seeks to clarify the related meanings of traditional Chinese culture and moral education in colleges and universities.On this basis,it analyzes the correlation between traditional Chinese culture and the moral education in purposes,nature and functions so much so that it can clarify the feasibility of performing the moral functions of traditional Chinese culture education.Secondly,it analyzes the existing problems of college students' morality to show the purpose of conducting researches on the moral functions of traditional Chinese culture education in colleges.These problems include lack of ideals and beliefs,lack of humanistic spirits,weak mental endurance,separation between moral cognition and moral behaviors.Meanwhile,the proposed research summarizes the main moral connotation in traditional Chinese culture by means of literature review,data collection and analysis,Then it tries to extract the moral functions of traditional Chinese culture education in training students' patriotic awareness,improving their humanities,forming proper values,cultivating aesthetic consciousness and virtues.For further research,this paper makes a case study of university S in which the moral functions of traditional Chinese culture education have exerted positive impacts on students' traditional Chinese cultural accomplishments,their attitudes toward traditional Chinese culture education,and the current situation of traditional Chinese culture education.Yet there are corresponding problems as well.In so far as these problems are concerned,this paper also makes some recommendations.Exactly speaking,the position of the moral functions of traditional Chinese culture education should be treated well;ways to implement the moral functions of traditional Chinese culture education should be improved;traditional Chinese culture education should be innovated;resource and system guarantee should be provided.
