We have all tried at times to wrest ourselves from a bad mood, perhaps by seeking out pleasant reminiscences or happy images of the future. Our efforts may sometimes succeed, but we can also find on occasion that this exertion sensitizes us to exactly the bad mood we were determined to avoid. Our mood worsens as a result. The event of counter-will is the effect of ironic. Ironic effects of mental control in sports: motion control, image, attention and emotional suppression. Self-talk is a cognitive strategy and essential psychological skill for enchaining performance. This research aims to explore the ironic effect of negative self-talk on the put performance. In the study 1, based on the classic sentence-picture verification task, the introduction of self-talk. Participants were presented affirmative or negative self-talk with contradictory and non-contradictory predicates. Subsequently a picture appeared, and participants were asked to judge whether the picture matched the self- talk. Study 1has two main findings: First, for the reaction, a 2(self- talk: negative and affirmative)×2(the relationship between self-talk and pictures: matched and non-matched) reaped measures ANOVA conducted the main effects of self-talk and the relationship is extremely significant. Both affirmative self-talk and negative self- talk, the self-talk is consistent with picture determining faster than the self-talk is not consistent with the picture. The result shows that the processing of negative self- talk is machining the actual status rather than the negative status. Second, for the correct rate, a 2(self-talk: negative and affirmative) × 2(the relationship between self-talk and pictures: matched and non- matched) repeated measures ANOVA computed a significant self-talk×relationship interaction, the main effect of the relationship. Simple effects analysis showed: self-talk is affirmative, the correct rate of a consistent relationship to higher than the inconsistent relationship; self- talk is negative, the correct rate of a consistent relationship to lower than the inconsistent relationship. In the study 2, participants were asked to ignore the impact of self-talk to complete the task of the putt. Participants were randomly divided into two groups:negative and affirmative. All participants complete 3 block of 10 trails. The first block has no self- talk, then given different self-talk. The distance away from the target was measured. Study 2 has two main findings: First, a 2(self-talk: negative and affirmative)×2(block: non self- talk and self- talk) reaped measures ANOVA conducted the main effects of self-talk and block, reply a significant self-talk×block interaction. Second, Simple effects analysis showed: The distance away from the target was farther in negation self-talk. Third, there were no gender differences on the ironic effects. Fourthly, the low level athletes had more the ironic effects than the high level athletes. In summary, it can be concluded:(1) whether affirmative self-talk or negation self- talk, the content matched the picture, the reaction time to faster. The processing of negation self-talk was whole processing.(2) whether in the laborator y or in the sports scene, the ironic effect of negation self-talk were verification.
