According to the Annual Quality Report of Higher Vocational Education in 2015,the employment rate of higher vocational college graduates half a year after graduation has been over 90% for three years since 2012,which is more and more close to that of university graduates.But the employment quality of the higher vocational college graduates is lower obviously than that of university graduates.The eighteen report of China party indicated that "to promote the realization of higher quality of employment." Research of the employment competitiveness of the students in higher vocational colleges can help them to get suitable jobs smoothly,to maintain and improve the employment rate,and to achieve higher employment quality,can promote higher vocational colleges to cultivate high-quality talents whom conforms to the social requirements and standards,and can speed up the process of the construction of the power of human resources and socialist modernization.This paper used the method which combines theoretical studies,empirical investigation,quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis.On the basis of referring to a lot of related literature and consulting the information from the experts on human resources in enterprises,this research identified the constituent elements of the employment competitiveness of higher vocational students.The state of the constituent elements can not only determine the competitive result,but also can determine the actual performance and future potential of the competitive body.A questionnaire about the employment competitiveness of higher vocational college students was designed according to the constituent elements,and a sample of 550 junior students from four representative higher vocational colleges in Hebei province participated in the questionnaire survey.The received statistics were counted and analyzed by SPSS17.0.Then the state of every constituent elements,the advantages and disadvantages of the employment competitiveness of higher vocational college students were discovered by comparison.The ability of team cooperation in basic competitiveness and the moral character in core competitiveness showed the advantages.The environmental competitiveness,the skill of choosing and finding occupations in basis competitiveness,and the professional knowledge and skills in core competitiveness showed the disadvantages.The paper analyzed that the disadvantages were caused by that the society had a prejudiced misunderstanding of higher vocational education,the labor market exited structural imbalance between supply and demand,the effectiveness of employment guidance in higher vocational colleges was low,the quality of education in higher vocational colleges needed to be promoted,and the learning enthusiasm of the students was not high.Then a series of specific countermeasures and suggestions were proposed from three aspects of reinforcing the functions of the government and creating better environment of employment,strengthening the construction of connotation and improving the characteristics and quality of talent cultivation in vocational colleges,and the students should give full play to their activeness,and make efforts to achieve self-improvement.This paper is not only beneficial to the vocational college students finding out their advantages and disadvantages clearly,exerting the advantages and overcoming the disadvantages to promote their employment competitiveness,but also can provide scientific reference for the improvement of higher vocational education and the environment.
