Writing is not only a momentous way to embody students' linguistic foundation and reflect their mastery degree of language,but also an effective way to improve students' competence in logical thinking and organization.In traditional English teaching,English writing has usually been a weak point in all the four skills for senior high school students.Because of the unconsciousness in the process of English input and the randomness in the use of English,students lack the attention and training in using English phrases and sentences,and they would lose their interest in English writing gradually.It is imperative to enhance the effectiveness of English writing teaching.The appearance of Memetics provides a new perspective for improving English writing teaching.It is a new pragmatic theory,which is based on Darwin's Evolution Theory to interpret the rules of cultural evolution.Meme refers to the imitation and the spread of people's ideas or consciousness in the field of culture.It is similar to genetic gene,which has the characteristic of replication.Since 1976,Memetics has been applied widely to many areas,and many researches' achievements have been made successfully.But empirical research of both Memetics and “Comprehensible Input” from Krashen's Input Hypothesis,and make them applied to English writing teaching in senior high school is an area that has not been explored by many researchers.With the combination of Memetics and “Comprehensible Input”,this research focuses on exploring whether the teaching model of “Comprehensible Input” from the perspective of Memetics has an effective impact on students' attitude and the improvement of English writing.This research takes students of the two classes in Grade Two of Dalian No.62 Middle School over one semester teaching experiment.The experimental class accepts the writing teaching model of “Comprehensible Input” from the perspective of Memetics,while the control class uses the traditional teaching model.Through the analysis of collected data from pre-test,post-test,questionnaire and interview,this research testifies that the teaching model of “Comprehensible Input” from the perspective of Memetics can effectively improve students' English writing attitude and competence in senior high school.Therefore,it is testified that the teaching model is necessary and feasible in English writing teaching.Based on the research results,the author puts forward some suggestions so as to improve the present situation of English writing teaching.However,as a result of the lack of teaching experience and limited level of research ability,this research still has some inevitable limitations.Therefore,improvement and reflection on language teaching should be done and new perspectives of Memetics and “Comprehensible Input” in the future should also be explored.
