Feasibility Research On Dragon-boat Course’ Open In Colleges And Universities

As a traditional sports event of Chinese nation which lasted for thousand years,dragon-boat race,however,is currently met with a bottleneck by dominant sports culture.With the development of society,the importance of culture is gradually valued,and the call for inheriting Chinese traditional culture is positively answered by colleges and universities.This essay,makes a deep research on the feasibility of dragon-boat course’ development in universities of Xiamen,including the necessity of the course,development of the dragon-boat history,favorable conditions and prospective problems that may exist for the courses,and offers some suggestions and references for other universities by taking Huaqiao University as an example for the practical exploration.The results of the study are mainly as followed: firstly,establish the dragon-boat course in colleges and universities is the need for developing dragon-boat culture,enriching universities’ sports curriculum and promoting the course reform of the universities;secondly,most universities in Xiamen enjoy the favorable conditions such as the geographical advantage,solid humanistic foundation,a thick dragon-boat atmosphere etc.;thirdly,the development of the dragon-boat course also faces with some problems like the inadequate attention of the leaders,the shortage of teachers and the lack of financial supports,and the security risks as well.Lastly,it sets Huaqiao University as a good example,with its clear teaching goal,reasonable arrangements of the teaching contents,scientific evaluation system and the satisfying teaching results,stating that though the teaching system is not perfect,it still worth learning by other universities.To sum up,with the promotion of the curriculum reform,the traditional teaching mode is unable to adjust to the development of the times.The combination of traditional sports culture and physical education in colleges and universities has already been an important way to cultivate talents of adaptive abilities and to inherit traditional culture.
