The infiltration of moral education into calligraphy education in primary schools is a new and important topic in the current situations of curriculum reform. The Third Plenary Session of the 18 t h Central Committee of the Communist Party of China not only takes high moral values establishment and people cultivation as the fundamental task of education, but also demands that moral education(should) run through the entire process of school education and teaching work. As an important part of traditional culture education, calligraphy education takes on the special task of practicing the socialist core values and cultivating talents, and develops students' patriotic feelings, values, ideological morals, artistic accomplishments with its practicality, artistic nature and cultural character, which conforms to the law of moral education and helps to enhance the effectiveness of moral education.This paper consists of five parts. It starts with prolegomena which elaborates the background, purpose, methods and ideas of the study, and makes a literal review from five aspects of moral education concept of art, moral infiltration in subjects, the moral education of traditional culture, activity and calligraphy.The second chapter provides a theoretical framework of moral education in calligraphy in primary schools, defines the concepts of calligraphy education and moral education and the relationship between the two through literature analysis methods. O n the basis of this, it explores the meanings, features and patho genesis of moral education in calligraphy. The third chapter makes a questionnaire survey to understand the present situation of moral education implementation in calligraphy teaching in primary schools by investigating most of calligraphy teachers and students from four schools in three districts in Beijing, which aims at analyzing the excellent practice and the inadequacies of the current situation of moral education in calligraphy from the perspective of teachers' and students' cognitions and practices about moral education in calligraphy. Based on the above analysis, the fourth chapter discusses the problems and reasons of moral education in calligraphy in primary schools. The main problems are as follows: practical writing education accounting for absolute advantage in calligraphy teaching, inadequacies of under-exploited moral education resources, single teaching methods, the neglect of students' experience, the lag of evaluation and lack of effective assessment mechanism. In the fifth chapter, some countermeasures are put forward from two aspects of improving the guidance and management of current calligraphy education and enhancing the teachers' own competence.In summary, in order to achieve the goal of improving students' writing skills and cultivating their ideology and moral character, the directing idea of Calligraphy Education is supposed to be changed. Besides, we should not only coordinate the multiple positions, change the evaluation mechanism of calligraphy education, but also focus on calligraphy teachers' collective training and self-improvement.
