Mind mapping technique is introduced by the famous British psychologist Tony Buzan in the 1960 s, and it is an emerging brain science. At first, it took only as a new method of note-taking, and then gradually developed into a tool for thinking and learning. English reading teaching is one of the main types of English teaching, it is the main channel to cultivate students' English ability, helping students to obtain the language knowledge and improve reading ability. However, the traditional reading teaching course is difficult to achieve ideal teaching effect. Mind Map is becoming a popular kind of teaching method to improve the teaching effect, it has many advantages. So it's necessary to investigate how to introduce the mind mapping technique into the English reading teaching of junior high school.Proceeding from this question, the thesis has mainly conducted the following research:1. Analyze and reorganize the history and the latest development of Mind Mapping both at home and abroad, and then discuss the theories behind mind mapping technique and theories of reading.2. Under the guidance of the mind mapping theories and English reading theories, the author summarizes several mind map design templates and constructs a teaching framework based on mind mapping technique used in English reading teaching in junior high school. Under the framework, mind mapping is the core and basic element of the system, it combines teachers, students and teaching materials together efficiently, and can be used in the activities before class, in class and after class. Then a teaching process has been shown based on the framework.3. The author designs an experiment; it includes teaching practice, questionnaire and interviews with teachers and students. Through the experiment, the author tries to analyze and check if the new teaching mode is applicable in English reading teaching in junior high school.The research shows that the new teaching model based on mind mapping technique has the following effects: help teachers accomplish teaching tasks better; help students improve their reading ability and arouse their learning interest; boost the interaction between teachers and students in teaching, and build a better learning atmosphere in class.
