Minority nationality dress witnessed the history of minority. It is not only a result of national culture, but also a living fossil bearing culture. It has potentially educational value. The dress of Miao nationality in western Hunan is full of beauty and variation, making itself part of the culture of Miao nationality. Through shapes, patterns and colors, the ancestors of Miao combine their understanding of life to the design of their clothes. Doubtlessly, Miao dress contains profound traditional culture and education value. It is the epitome of Miao culture and also plays an important role in the culture of Chinese ancient clothing. Nowadays, the learning experience of teenagers should not be constrained to being familiar with the formats and medias of arts and visual languages. At the same time, teenagers should get more involved in information exchange, learn to utilize the cultural resource of human race, be part of the inheritance of transitional culture and make their own contribution to the development of culture. The culture of Miao dress is a gem of Chinese ancient clothing culture and it fits well in the taste as well as the cognitive level of teenagers. With a high value in educational purpose, the culture of Miao dress benefits the development of teenagers from many perspectives:it helps teenagers to raise their aesthetic level, improve observation and performance ability, enhance national identity, build up proper ecological and natural view and better become the heirs of Chinese transitional culture.This thesis consists of six parts and mainly focuses on the feasibility study of combining the culture of Miao dress to the senior high school art education:The first part mainly talks about the background and the meaning of this research. Based on that, it organizes and summarizes domestic and foreign scholars' relevant researches and points out some shortcomings of those researches.The second part is about the systematical analysis of current Miao nationality and it tries to find the culture contained in Miao dress in a deeper level.The third part more specifically analyzes the value of bringing Miao dress culture into senior high school art education from the aspects of multi-culture, minor nationality culture, the development of local education textbook and the features of teenagers'mental development.The forth part summarizes the principle applied for bringing Miao dress culture into senior high school art education. At the same time, it talks about the shortcuts for the utilization of Miao dress culture in art education.The fifth part is about using the theories above to the design and analyzes some teaching cases, which are referring to Miao dress, from four perspectives:shape and performance, design and utilization, appreciation and review and comprehensive discovery.The sixth part summarizes the overall research and author's enlightenment and suggestion in the whole process.
