The reshaping of human society by media technology has long been discussed in academic circles. The power of this reshaping never comes only from a material sense of abundance. Its roots lie in the human consciousness.Neil Postman earlier focused on the conflict between e-culture and written culture, focusing attention on the elimination of technology from culture;Walter Ong studied the influence of spoken culture and written culture on human thinking.Emphasizes the construction of technology to culture. From this point of view, the influence of the media at the political level is also worth noting.Just as Jing Xuemin refers to the mass media as the “core intermediary” of political communication, the influence of media technology on political communication is self-evident.Since Karl Wolfgone Deutsch’s Government’s Nerve: The Model of Political Communication and Control(1963)marked political communication became an official discipline in the 1960 s,and academic circles’ research on its field has been controversial. So far, there is no set of mature theoretical systems to support the "subject".By re-dividing the political communication reform from the perspective of media evolution and refining the law with historical review methods,we try to sum up a set of general laws for the change of political communication.Such an attempt seems to have a certain theoretical value. From this perspective, the research methods of the ecological school of the Media Ecology and the theory of media evolution of Paul Levinson seem to provide a theoretical reference for such research. However, analysis based on the existing theoretical basis is far from satisfactory in terms of summarizing the laws of political communication. We borrow from Levinson’s theory of "humanity regression" to assume a "original state" of political communication similar to the human communication environment during the pre-technical period and deduct "binary law" concerning the innovation of media technology, that is," from the pursuit of record return to the pursuit of speed " ",and" from the pursuit of abstract return to the pursuit of concrete " media evolution. This law is used to predict the changes in political communication, and to use the 16-year U.S.election as a research model to explain,we found that from the more and more clear information presentation to the direct effect of human decision-making,the essence of this is that the fact that the boundaries between technology and natural reality are gradually diminishing. The network may then reshape the logic of human thinking or even the evaluation of values. The "binary law" acknowledges the subjective initiative of man but bypasses a fundamental problem. That is the relationship between man and technology. The “four phase pattern” of political communication attempts to solve this problem. It describes each other with the “dual law”.The latter outlines the macro trend of technological development. The former explains how technology affects the political process. But what we must know is that such a rule exploration is based on an ideal state, because it is based on the lawless refinement and technical foresight. In this process, people have defaulted to the dominant position, but if this is not the case, such research cannot be carried out.Through further analysis of this theoretical system,we come to a more idealistic conclusion: Regardless of how media technology affects social systems,it has its own constant trend and measurement standard. Therefore,we are optimistic about the change in political communication. |
