Research On The Interactive Relationship Between The Iran-Iraq War And IRGC

The Iran-Iraq war,which lasted from September 22,1980--August 20,1988,was one of the longest conventional wars in twentieth century.The impact of the war on Iran is comprehensive and profound.One of the most important influences is the consolidation of Iran's two military systems.As one of the two main forces,The Revolutionary Guard Corps was born into revolution,then raised at war in which it had been trained and thrived.Similarly,the Revolutionary Guards also have important influence on the war.This paper mainly discusses the interactive relationships between the Iran-Iraq war and the IRGC.The so-called "interaction" refers to the mutual influence between the Revolutionary Guard and the Iran-Iraq war.On one hand,the IRGC actively participate in and played an important role during the war.On the other hand,The violent and brutal war forced the IRGC to be an standardized,modernized and internationalized army gradually.This paper can be divided into three chapters.The first chapter describes the formation background of Iranian two military systems.The regular force developed into a modern army during the Pahlavi Dynasty.while,All of that radically changed in the aftermath of Khomeini's return to Tehran,whom established the IRGC and purged regular force.The second chapter is the main part of the article,mainly discusses the mutual effects of the Revolutionary Guard and the Iran-Iraq war.According to the development of IRGC,The Iran-Iraq war were divided into three stages in this chapter: The IRGC went to war;IRGC achieved the leading role at the battlefield;the consolidation of two military systems.At each stage,the material focuses on the positive performance and the important role of the Revolutionary Guards in the battles,and the development in each stage.When the war broke,the Revolutionary Guards joined the battle actively.on the big stage,they swept the mine field and killed the enemy with no arms only relying on the spirit of perseverance and fearless,whom won the trust and support from religious leader and Iranians gradually.The Iran-Iraq warliked a melting pot,The IRGC developed step by step,whose armed services and military establishment has been improved,technology and skills at the battlefield had been promoted.Eventually,The IRGC transformed from a non-professional and religious army into an standardized,modernized and internationalized one.The third chapter is the multiple roles of the IRGC.After the Iran-Iraq war,the IRGC has become an expansive military-social-political-economic conglomerate.The military role is the essential attribute of the Revolutionary Guard,whose mission defending the revolutionary regime makes it to be the supervisor of Iranian society.Today,The influence of IRGC extends into virtually every corner of Iranian political,economical life and society by burnishing its role in the Iran-Iraq war and postwar reconstruction reconstruction.The Iran-Iraq War likes a stage on which the Revolutionary Guard performs as one of the two main actors;the Iran-Iraq war is a crucible in which the Revolutionary Guard developed greatly.When the war broke out,The revolutionary guards went to battlefield and delayed the process of Iraq army forces.During the war,the performance of IRGC in conducting human-wave attack,Tanker war and marsh war had an important influence on the battlefield situation and the results.Similarly,the Iran Iraq-war,which not only forced the Revolutionary Guard to be standardization,specialization and modernization,then consolidate the two military systems in Iran,but also laid the postwar political-economic-social status of the Revolutionary Guard Corps.
