Study On Sustainable Healthy Environmental Governance In Pingshan Village Shenzhen

Urban Villages are a specific and unique phenomenon in China,related with the fast economic development and urbanization in recent decades therefore it involves social,economic,environmental and cultural transformations.Pingshan Urban village is located on the north of Nanshan district,adjacent to the Shenzhen university town,South gate of Harbin institute of technology.The village started its Process of transformation and Urbanization since 1979.Currently the residential plot is about 20.36 ha and has more than 600 constructed buildings.The average plot area is more than 6 m2/ people.In Pingshan village there are more than 600 ancestral home villagers.In The previous year the floating population was about 35 000,mostly migrant workers,aged 20-45 years,the village has mixed population coming from all parts of China,Since the relocation of industrial plants,the population of the village has been reduced.Currently the village has a population of 32,000.Pingshan faces as serious imbalance population age structure,which may bring security risks as well as issues such as inadequate educational facilities.The thesis is mainly focus on Environmental healthy sustainable governance of Pingshan urban village concentrated on four pillars of environmental sustainability such as Parks,Streets,Civic squares and the waste management.The first chapter briefly introduces sustainable environmental governance,the general understanding of urban villages.Second chapter gives the assessment of sustainability,concept of resilience,the elements environmental sustainable governance,policies and its principles.The third chapter presents the analysis of these elements and case studies from villages in Africa and Europe.Chapter four give recommendations and guide lines on how to create a more sustainable environmental healthy urban village.The thesis focus on analysis of different environmental elements,the sustainability and governance of Pingshan Urban village to improve the condition of environmental facilities like parks,streets,civic squares,waste management which has a direct impact to the behavior and quality of life of the villagers.
