After the First World War,the political modernization of Egypt welcomed an important turning point.The national bourgeoisie represented by the Wafd,through leading nationwide nationalist movement,pressurized Britain to acknowledge conditionally Egypt's independence ultimately,and contributed to the revision of the constitution in 1923,which opening the constitutionalism era of Egypt.The range of thesis starts from the end of the First World war in 1918,and stops in the 1930 when Sedki abolished the Constitution of 1923.And the thesis focuses on the development and changes in politics in Egypt over the 10 years.In the first chapter,the research firstly emphasizes the development of political modernization of Egypt since Napoleon's invasion,which reflected that Egypt's politics have had some features of modern democracy before the First World War.Then,it also analyzes the conditions of classes in Egyptian society before and after the First World War,in order to further understand the social and economic background where Egyptian political changes.In the second Chapter,it reviews the main events about nationalist movements which happened after the World War I.These events include the conditional independence obtained by Egypt,and the Constitution of 1923.In the same time,the chapter also analyzes the influence and consequence brought by above events.In addition,in order to further explore the root course which resulted in limitations and incompleteness of Egyptian nationalist movements,the chapter also refers to the platform and organization structure of Egyptian main political parties.In the third chapter,it focuses on political activities in the framework of the Constitutional of 1923 in the early Egyptian constitutional era when Parliamentary Parties,Egyptian kings and Britain all entered into fight for regime,which contributed to make Egyptian political situation delicate balance.The period from 1918 to 1930 is one of the most critical stage about the development of political modernization in the Egyptian modern history.In this period,the Egypt not only won independence,but also enacted the bourgeois constitution,and carried out constitutional monarchy.All above laid important foundation and provided valuable experience for Egypt winning a full independence and overturning completely the feudal monarchy.In the face of the powerful imperialism,such as Britain,the Egyptian nationalist represented by Wafd,who were perseverant,fought for their dignity and right.The party politics that booming in this period provided Egyptian common people with more opportunities to take part in state politics.
