The Crisis Management Of The United States On The Taiwan Issue

The Taiwan Issue has been a political problem that plagues China's reunification,and the resulting crisis is a directly challenge to China's national security.As the biggest external factor in the Taiwan Issue,the United States has been interfering in China's internal affairs for a long term.Especially when there is a crisis happening in the Taiwan Strait,the United States applies crisis management to maintain the status quo of cross-strait—"No Immediate Reunification,No Independence”,it seriously damages the fundamental interests of China.This article uses the theory of crisis management,taking "Referendum on U.N.Membership " as a case,restores the crisis caused by the events,and deeply analyzes and demonstrates the motivation,content and effect of the case.It studies the strategies and tactics of crisis management the United States employs in the case from the perspective of decision,game and psychological cognition.The article thinks that the United States holds a model in the Taiwan Strait Crisis Management: Maintaining the interests of the United States as the basic criteria,Setting up“maintain the status quo”goals in crisis management from the point of decision to ensure the stability of the Taiwan Strait;next,establishing the game structure according to the views of the decision target and determination of cross-strait stance,establishing the "bluff" game structure between the United States and Taiwan,and "bold" game structure between the United States and China,and then,according to the game structure to select the specific crisis management tools;maintaining smooth communication with the two sides so that we can prevent from misunderstanding and misjudgment;keeping the flexibility of choice,and in the end resolving the crisis through peaceful means.The US crisis management produced a certain effect objectively,US-Taiwan relations leading to divergence due to the lack of mutual confidence,China and the United States form the de facto co-management in the crisis which make a Significant improvement in relations between the two countries,the cross-strait relations ease the tension because of the US crisis management.
