A Study On American National Identity And Its Inspiration To China

The United States is not only an immigrant country with complex ethnic groups,but also one of the countries with the highest degree of national identity.In the practice of constructing American national identity,it has formed many theories and effective measures,which is worth learning from China.In addition,although we have accumulated rich experience in national identity,there are also shortcomings such as paying attentlion to inculcation and theory.Meanwhile,the infiltration and practice are ignored.Learning and implementing the important instructions of the General Secretary of Xi Jinping on promoting national identity from the "five levels",drawing experience from the effective practices of the United States,and putting forward systematic countermeasures and suggestions.To improve the deficiencies of the operation methods at the specific practice level of the national identity.On the effectiveness of the construction,It has important theoretical and practical significance.In this paper,Marxist dialectics as a guide,combined with the history and reality,takes up the research on American national identity.In the theoretical research level,using literature analysis,combined with data and conclusions of foreign empirical research,obtaining useful helps;in the practical level,paying attention to contact with China's reality,putting forward inspiration to China.The main findings and conclusions are as follows:First of all,this paper argues that the United States has formed an effective construction model of national identity,this model will be summarized as:construct value identity with the standard as "American Creed" which from the core of the traditional culture of the United States-"Anglo-Saxon Protestant culture",represents the US democracy,freedom and equality of political principles.As the core of civic education,to cultivate the basis of American national identity-civic awareness,combined with the political identity and cultural identity of America.Secondly,there are many methods worthy of reference in the specific implementation of the American national identity model:focus on the use of built-in,implied means of communication,master the mass media channels,attach importance to the role of schools,specifically set "social science" hidden,permeable,practical civic education,effectively improve the spread of values and the effectiveness of education.Finally,on the basis of drawing on the pattern of national identity construction in the United States,this paper argues that China should adhere to the guidance of Marxism,based on the excellent traditional culture of China,and actively cultivate and practice the socialist core values,strengthen and improve the ideological and political education in colleges and universities.The following recommendations:continue to concise the socialist core values,highlight the essence of traditional Chinese culture and socialism requirements,learn from "American communication" to promote the popularization of socialist core values.Using Internet thinking,innovating communication channels and carriers to improve the effectiveness of the spread of the socialist core values:Enhance the ideological and political education on the infiltration of oher courses to achieve explicit and implicit curriculum combined.Innovate teaching methods improving the proportion of practical teaching in ideological and political education.Domestic academic circles on the study of American national identity,scattered indifferent areas,and made enlightenment from their respective focus on China's national identity.But not yet formed in a certain framework of the system recommendations,especially in the practical level.Few papers researched on the specific measures.In this paper,integrated of related disciplines,the proposed system recommendations and specific measures can supplement this deficiency,with a certain value.Due to the limited academic foundation of the author,the paper lacks a certain theoretical depth and can only be discussed as a basis.In addition,limited by only through access to literature,indirect research,in terms of timeliness and comprehensiveness slightly less.Hope in the future study to further expand the research on American identity.
