A Study On The Process Of Ethnic Identification In Songtao Guizhou

Ethnic equality is the fundamental principle of the ethnic policy for Communist Party of China. In order to implement the party's policy of ethnic equality, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth ethnic identification for all ethnic groups in China.Ethnic identification has become an important work for implementing the Party's ethnic policies.The paper takes Marxist historical materialism and ethnic theory, and relevant theory of ethnic identification at home and broad as the theory foundation. Using native archives in Song Tao for literature and field study will be employed to study the specific historical process of the development of the ethnic identification In Songtao, Guizhou.Ethnic discrimination which existed in ethnic concept of ancient China, closely related to the vague ethnic identification, which has embodied in people's ethnic concept of Songtao Guizhou and in the situations of ethnic identification. The ethnic work related to ethnic equality had been implemented during the period of Soviet Red Army in eastern Guizhou, which had become the basis of preliminary ethnic identification of Song Tao Guizhou before 1949. It's an important period for Songtao to implement CPC's policy of ethnic equality and the work of ethnic identification in1950 s and 1960 s, which mainly includes the check and implementing of ethnic policies, census, establishment of regional national autonomy, etc.The work of ethnic identification in Songtao Guizhou interrupted during the Cultural Revolution, was restored and developed in-depth in the 1980 s. The specific progress of ethnic identification of Songtao in the1980 s, which not only contains the process of identification of Gelao, Miao, but also the in-depth investigation for the local Ran and Yang clans.
