The Translation Report Of The Instant Economist

With the development of the global economy,China's economy is undergoing dramatic development and people are paying more and more attention to some economy phenomena which is related to all respects of life.Therefore,it is necessary for people to have a good understanding of economic knowledge.The number of books on economics is also on the rise in the list of bestsellers.This report selected a textbook of economics from Stanford University's courses,which consisted of two parts: macroeconomics and microeconomics.The author adopted the skopos theory to guide English-Chinese translation practice and positively used translation strategies and various translation methods to translated the book and analyzed the difficulties in translation of the Instant Economist.The Instant Economist is a textbook filled with the principles of economics and also an easy-to-read economic text.The language of the text featured on economic terminology and long sentences.The logic of the source text is clear and coherent.This report started from the practice of English-Chinese translation.First,the author initially made the analysis in the economic text in the aspect of vocabulary and syntax having a full understanding of the original text.Secondly,under the guidance of the skopos theory and following the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule,the author utilized a variety of translation strategies and translation methods to finish the translation.In face of the translation difficulties at lexical level,syntactic level and stylistic level,the author carried out the deep analysis.Finally,after the completion of the translation,the author proofread the work carefully.The report included five parts: introduction to the translation program,theoretical basis,task description of translation,translation difficulties and case analysis,summary of thepractice.
