This translation report is based on The Wolf Keepers written by Elise Broach, which describes the extraordinary experience of two heroes in tracing the death of zoo wolves. As a children' s novel, the source text features literary values and a clear idea of the audience.Taking into account the cognitive characteristics of children and the"foregrounding" characteristics of literary works, the verbs in it,including the articulated mimetic verbs that describe sounds, the use of "deviations" to describe character verbs, and neatly organized parallel structures are typical translation problems. The translator will focus on analyzing the above issues in the report. These two kinds of problems, reflecting the literary values of the novel, are the expression of the self-ref erentiality of the literary works. If literal translation is used, the expression effect would not be achieved;it will neither reflect the literary value of the original text nor trigger children' s interest in reading. Therefore, when chosing words used in translation, the meaning of the sentence in the context on the one hand, the perspective of the recipient on the other, should be taken into consideration,to preserve the original beauty on the basis of faithfulness.According to different situations, the translator can use word selection, concretization, and take other translation methods and means.Through the translation practice, the translator has a more impressive understanding of children ' s literature and has a certain degree of understanding of the use of words in children ' s literature to lay a solid foundation for the translation of such texts. At the same time,it is hoped that the translation methods summarized in the report can provide reference for other translators who translate such texts.
