Research Of High Self-handicapping Tendency Individuals' Attentional Bias To Threatening Information

This research aim to explore the high level self-handicapping tendency individuals' attentional bias characteristics to threatening information,adopts experimental methods to explore the characteristics of the attentional bias of the high and low self-handicapping tendency level group to the threatening information.Firstly,this research participants were screened out by questionnaire,which were divided into the high self-handicapping tendency group and low self-handicapping tendency group,and then the experiment was carried out.The whole experiment process contains two sub experiments,which adopts the adapted point detection paradigm,and the experimental design are as follows:Experiment 1 is a research of high self-handicapping tendency individuals' attention to emotional words,select positive words,neutral words and threatening words as experimental material,through 2(self-handicapping level)×2(phrase type matching)×2(clue type)three factors combined experiments design,investigation on emotional words of two groups had attentional bias or not,it is concluded that high group and the low group participants to attention bias characteristics and differences of different types of emotional words.Experiment 2 select positive pictures,neutral pictures and threatening pictures as experimental material,through 2(self-handicapping level)×2(image type matching)×2(clue type)three factors combined experiments design,investigation of two groups had no reaction time and attention to characteristics of emotional images,find the existence of high self-handicapping tendency to threatening information note evidence of bias.This research concluded the following results:(1)The high level self-handicapping tendency group participants' average reaction time is significantly shorter than the average reaction time to the emotional words to the low group test,the high scores group was tested on the average reaction of threatening pictures,which was significantly shorter than the low scores group;(2)During the process of threatening-neutral stimulation pairing,under the condition of invalid clue,the average reaction time of the high scores group was significantly longer than the low scores group;(3)High scores group participants shows a more pronounced threatening information attentional bias than low scores group participants.The conclusions of this research are: high self-handicapping tendency individuals have attentional bias to threatening information,and exist the process of the attentional transferring difficulty while showing priority attention to threatening information.
