A Translation Practice Report On Cultural Terms In A Textual Research On Rhyme Tables

Translating Chinese classics of ancient phonology into English is one of the most effective ways to promote the reception of traditional Chinese culture in the world.Taking the translation of A Textual Research on Rhyme Tables,the author analyzes the types and features of cultural terms in it,and then tries to remove barriers to the translation of culture-loaded words through translation strategies such as liberal translation,transliteration and transliteration with interpretation,so as to reduce cognitive differences caused by cultural differences.Cultural terms are the language reference of concepts,which contains a wide range of terms.Not only cultural vocabulary but professional terminology of each subject is the language reference of concepts or stereotypes of words and phrases.It must be noted that phonetic terms including but not limited to the branches of cultural terms,which are the main components of A Textual Research On Rhyme Tables worth writing another article to discuss in detail.Therefore this thesis doesn’t mention phonetic terms.In this report,the author describes the specific translation process of A Textual Research on Rhyme Tables,including “pre-translating preparation”,“terms searching”“translation process”,and “text proofreading”,and then points out problems concerning the standing of original text,translation criterion and translation methods.
