The camera is the most constructive/powerful tool that contributes to the role of documentaries--an intervention in dialysis society,since all introspection and questions should be based on the observation of objective reality.The author's graduation project is exactly a record of a continuous follow-up observation of a selected individual.It was during this process that I started truly and gradually thinking about the recorded reality.The relationship between me and the subject has been difficult to me during the observation.As the creator behind the camera,I always spontaneously projected my subjective tendency on it;the changes in the relationship and distance between us were always subconsciously affecting both of us.The “reality” that the author had previously expected was challenged and even led to self-negation.It was precisely this test that set the author free from struggling and drove him to actively engage in.Allowing personal opinions and attitudes in turned out to be more rewarding.Ever since them,I have learned to record with an aim higher than being random and learned how to respond to the subjects' continuous feedback and change in front of the camera.I can more accurately keep hold of the original intention of my creation,especially when faced with unpredictable and dramatic situations,under which I have the chance to examine and reflect on reality in a more macro perspective.I have learned to complete my thoughts on society by observing the individuals and the social environment they live in,and I learned how to strike the balance of there lation ship between individuals and groups,and the relationship between individuals and the environment.The author's work “Living in Arts” observes the juvenile group taking the art exams from a perspective of humanistic concern and a friend,telling the experience of a rebellious teenager Deng Xinhai who have been repeatedly/constantly releasing himself,adjusting himself,and striving for the goals that he set up during his artistic learning,but is disqualified to take the exams for an unexpected reason.Although this is not a satisfactory result and there are regrets,we can feel the warmth of humanity from the changes in his rebellious personality,the improvement of his innermost being,and change of his attitude toward his mother.Using dramatic narration,in the way of recording,the film presents a story of a rebellious teenager seeking liberation for anxious self in the name of art.Through observation and interaction with the subject,the film presents the influence of the social environment,system of further studies,and family education on the growth of this special group,post-2000 s.This article fully combines works,thoroughly analyzes the film's topics and intentions,elaborately describes important stages of the work,including preparation to mid-term shooting and post-editing.In addition,a comprehensive summary and reflection has been made on the personal problems and individual gains in the creating process.Moreover,this article has compiled and organized the documents and important materials that can reflect the process of early planning,mid-term observation,important scene shooting,and shooting strategy adjustment,post-editing,etc.to reflect and support the professional skills that I l have acquired in graduate school and completion of my graduation project.
