The capitalist society in modern times presented the ideological condition that the rationality is supreme and the religious spirit is sluggish.However,reason does not bring happiness and liberation to people.On the contrary,the problem of alienation of human nature and the development of cultural malformations has become increasingly serious.On the basis of a profound criticism of popular culture,the three principal members of the Frankfurt School-Adorno,Marcuse,Benjamin,have embarked on the road in the hope that through "art",in an "aesthetic" way Complete human salvation.Aesthetics can not only make up for the lack of rationalization and mechanization,but also can open up a new path of sensibility and bring liberation to people.Although "aesthetic salvation" is utopia,it is undoubtedly of great value to reflect on reason and criticize culture from the perspective of aesthetics.Although the theories of scholars have their own emphasis,scholars have given considerable attention to critical theory,popular culture,and aesthetic salvation.In the end,they have all chosen aesthetics as a tool to transform society and redeem humanity.The common ground of scholars in the school of thought is also the footing of this article.The first chapter of this article analyzes the social background of the Frankfurt School aesthetics.The outbreak of the modern crisis broke the dream of rationality.Frankfurt School scholars focused their criticism on the unity of instrumental rationality,cultural industry,and social development.The second chapter combs the theoretical origins of Frankfurt School aesthetics.Kant's artistic self-discipline established the scholars' basic attitude towards aesthetics;Schopenhauer's will aesthetics and Nietzsche's mission to save the arts all greatly influenced the formation and development of Frankfurt School aesthetics.The third chapter is a detailed analysis of the Frankfurt School scholars' aesthetic theory.The development context and core concepts of the aesthetic theories of Adorno,Marcuse and Benjamin were analyzed respectively.The significance of aesthetic salvation is profound,especially in the face of complex forms of change and cultural markets in the current era,it is more necessary to explore.The theory of aesthetic redemption is a profound reflection on rationality by scholars of the Frankfurt school,and it is also the ultimate concern for the fate of human beings.
