| This is a translation report on Part I,which is written by Elizabeth A.Tuleja and released in 2017.The original text is made up of eight parts.By presenting intercultural behaviors under business context and revealing the significance of intercultural communication in business field,the author aims to arouse the interest of intercultural communication learning among business leaders and tries to equip them with the knowledge of intercultural communication after reading this book.This translation report can provide terminologies and theories of intercultural understanding and business to readers.Furthermore,by presenting the cases studies,people can fully understanding how to use intercultural techniques under business context.By doing so,the translation purpose of combining theories with practise can be achieved.Under the principle of skopos theory,this report aims to solve the difficulties in the process of translation by applying the translation techniques of block-segment,concept conversion,literal translation and free translation.There are two difficulties to be solved in the process of translation: The main difficulty is to translate the examples of cultural differences presented in this book clearly without any misunderstandings.Since not all cultural differences is understood by readers,it is hard to convey the author’s deep meaning and insight in those examples and cases.The second difficulty is the intercultural communication theories which is also hard to translate correctly.This translation report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter gives an overview of the original text and discusses the significance of this translation report as well as its layouts.The second chapter introduces skopos theory and its three principals,then analyzes stylistic,syntactic and functional features of the source text.The third chapter puts clear what translation difficulties are and how the translation techniques can be used to solve such difficulties.The last chapter makes a conclusion and distills the experience learned after translation as well as points out the problems to be solved. |
