The term 'style' first appeared in the Wei and Jin dynasties, for one's character and morals, which has a great difference with today's meaning. At present, the most widely circulated word about style should be the phrase 'style is human',which was described by the French thinker and writer De Buffon of the 18 th century.Similar to this,'Like author, like book' and 'Paintings reflect the painter' are well known by people in China. In this question, both East and West invariably closely associate 'style' with 'creative person',and think that 'style' is 'personality' which is the external disclosure of creative thoughts and emotions, reflecting spirit and the pursuit.Yuan Dynasty landscape painting is the most famous in history, the representative figure is 'Four Masters of the Yuan Dynasty',and all the landscape paintings have been affected deeply since Yuan Dynasty.Song paintings focus on physics,as well as Yuan paintings on temperament. The pen and ink have their own independent aesthetics in Yuan paintings. The combination of calligraphy and painting is even closer, and they are complemented by the inscription writing and the need of the picture.Ultimately, the form of "literati painting" combining poetry, calligraphy and painting is finally established. The writer will compare Zan Ni with the other three masters in this article, which may be more helpful to our understanding of their painting style.Since ancient times, the Chinese literati have been 'cultivating their minds',hoping that they will be refined and separated from the earthly world, whether above the temples or far away from the mountains.Because of special historical reasons,'seclusion' culture peaked in the Yuan Dynasty. As a representative of seclusion,Zan's paintings are concise, simple and mature, with a few pictures,a face and a spirit. His pictures are empty and not showing one, showing his mentality of fleeing from this world. In the life of the artist, the style is not inherent, nor static.'Who understands the world is learned;who understands the self is enlightened'.It is not easy to know a person,it is harder to know oneself, however,it is even harder to present yourself in your work to create your own stable and unique personal style.Zan's 'Fishing Village autumn map' overall style and 'six gentlemen map' is very similar, but from the 'six gentlemen map' to represent the style of mature 'autumn fishing map',it has been full ten years later.Style is a symbol of the artist's maturity. The writer always think that to truly understand the 'style' of a piece of work,it is necessary to get a deep understanding of the 'people' who created the piece, linking it with the living environment of the creative subject and even the background of the times. If we deviate from these internal factors, but only from the appearance of the works of ink, shape, composition, color and other external manifestations, what we could find only the technique. Therefore,a work should be divided into 'internal' and 'external': 'internal' is the creation period of the work, the creative environment and the author's mental and psychological state, etc.'External' means the writing, modeling, composition and color, etc. Here the author attempts to explore what role the two play in the presentation of 'style' and how they transform each other, while the 'inner' is visualized and eventually 'human' is shown in 'style'.
