As a new literary style,the film plays attract a lot of attention.With the development of science and technology,the successor of the film art have greatly a trend to overshadow the trend of traditional literature.However,the history of Chinese film development is short-lived,and there are certain limitations in the field of the film production and research.Domestic research mostly focuses on the influence and success of films from the perspective of directors,neglecting the role of screenwriters.What's more,it tends to choose the current popular movie as a research object.In fact,the success of a film requires not only the director's overall “steering”,but also the “artistic” design of the screenwriter.A good screenwriter means a good story.That is the basis of a film which should not be ignored.As a preeminent screenwriter of Hollywood,Dalton Trumbo wrote hundreds of excellent screenplays.Due to political reasons,he performed a tragic tragedy on the stage of Hollywood in the second half of the 20 th century.As of now,there are few domestic studies about this legendary playwright of Hollywood.What's worse,the quality of current research is lackluster.This thesis takes the screenplays of Dalton Trumbo,the representative of “The Hollywood Ten Gentlemen”,as the object of study,sorting out which and exploring the artistry and literariness of them.However,in terms of different political stands,people held different views on the once sensational “Hollywood Ten Gentlemen” case.This thesis intends to neglect the political differences between the Left and the Right.Based on historical facts,it dissects the historical contributions of Trumbo's screenplays,names rectification for the films and the literary/cultural workers of the “Red Hollywood”.The thesis explores the reality concerns of Hollywood's left-wing films.At the same time,it attempts to use cross-cultural research methods to structure the relationship between film and literature,discussing the literariness of Trumbo's screenplays,highlighting the creative features of Trumbo's creations,and providing a mirror for ourselves.
