This is a translation project report on Documentary Voice & Vision: A Creative Approach to Non-Fiction Media Production by Kelly Anderson and Martin Lucas etc.,of which Chapter 14 Location Sound Techniques is the source text.The main content of the source text is the introduction of the location sound recording techniques and the important role it plays in the whole documentary production activity.This report is divided into four parts,Chapter One is the preview of the translation project,including the basic information about the project such as its background information,its contents and its significance etc.In the era of big data,media communication is an essential way to improve the country’s international discourse power,and to export its own culture to strengthen the overall soft power.The source text is the essence of the advanced techniques and experiences from the top-notch documentary production team,which would with no doubt benefit the development of China’s related industries.Chapter Two consists of the introduction of the theoretical bases,and the analysis of the source text.The theory chose as the guidance is the Skopos Theory,along with its 3 principle rules: the Skopos Rule,the Coherence Rule and the Fidelity Rule.Chapter Three provides the challenges and difficulties found in the process of the translation,and the relevant solutions the translator has offered.The Last Chapter summarizes the experiences and lessons gained during the translation,and suggest the room for further improvement.
