Ma Quan,a boudoir painter in the Qing dynasty, devoted her life to painting the world of flowers. All the paintings were derived from life, all of which was the love of life.Under the control of the feudal ideology and orthodox school in Qing dynasty,as a professional painter,Ma Quan was different from the boudoir painter who lives in the inner house, and also as a female painter, she was not attached to the male painter, but with her own character and style. The first chapter of this paper divides the life of Ma Quan into three stages and explores the formation of her style. In the first stage, before getting married, she learnt boneless painting, influenced by "family learning".In the second stage, after marrying Kong Kehe, she was influenced by "husband's family learning" and imitated "the calligraphic style of Song".In the third stage, after bereavement until later in life,Ma Quan earned her life by painting and was known as the "double hook".In the second chapter, the unique style of painting of Ma Quan is analyzed through appreciating her painting works. With brush strokes of Song dynasty in style, bright but not vulgar in color, and "powder" in color development,Ma Quan tends to depict the wild flowers, with the butterfly and worm as the main body and informal but decorative sense in style. The third chapter discusses the influence of Ma Quan's painting techniques and characteristics on me in relation with my creation, and also talks about my inspirations in creation. |
