Research On Visual Language Performance Of Installation Art

Installation art as an important art form in contemporary art,which has rich themes,various visual effects,and close interactions between art works and audiences,are getting more and more attention in China recent years.As a form of visual art,installation art is an visual language,which makes ideas expression and acceptance between artists and audiences become possible through the production and visiting process of art works.Therefore,It is necessary to research visual language performance of installation art.Because installation art is still at seedtime in China and relevance theories of installation art are incomplete,the acceptance of art works among audiences is not quite popular.The paper provided useful references of creating and understanding art works through analyzing the meaning of installation art works from the visual language perspective.The paper launched the study based on applications of visual language in Installation art.It started with understanding the meaning of three elements in creating Installation art,materials,space,and concepts,to analysis factors of Installation art's visual language.Comparing the differences between visual language and viewing patterns in sculpture art and installation art,the paper summarized contemporary characteristics of visual language in installation art.Then combining contemporary characteristics of visual language in installation art and cognitive psychological theories,the paper analyzed the significant effect of audiences' cognition and experiences on understanding installation art's ideas.It also analyzed the forming process of cognition and experience's influence on visual language performance,which provides instructions of installation art's creation and appreciation.After that,the paper studied the visual language way of expressing art ideas from materials and space angle.Through cases study of non-stylization feature in visual language of installation art,the paper expounded the ornamental value and Intrinsic value of visual language in installation art.By means of visiting installation art works in exhibitions and experiencing their visual effects,the paper studied polysemy inspired by audiences on understanding art works with visual language and the guide function of polysemy on understanding visual language.Combining characteristics of visual language in installation art,the paper also provided reference for expansion of contemporary design thinking through the study.Finally,the author created an installation art work based on the previous study result and embodied visual language performance of installation art.The study of the paper provides theories of understanding and creating installation art works,and it also lays a foundation for a next step research on installation art.
