Angela Carter, wellknown for unique writing style and fantasy imagination,is a prominent English feminist writer in the twentieth century. This thesis,on the basis of textual analysis combined with the feministic perspective, takes three novels The Magic Toyshop,The Passion of New Eve and Nights at the Circus, written in 1967,1977,and 1984 respectively as objects of study to analyze the evolution of Angela Carter's feministic consciousness. In the Magic Toyshop,Carter empowers her female characters to regain their voice and reconstruct their female identity to overturn the domination of masculine hegemony. In her perspective, discourse is an effective instrument to challenge the male authority. However, with the influence of radical feminism,Carter finds out another approach to solve gender confrontation presented in The Passion of New Eve.Adopting androgynism and shaping unconventional characters,Carter conveys her feminism in a subversive way, breaking the constraint of traditional modes. Finally,in the Nights at the Circus,Carter creates more subversive female images to overthrow the stereotype of female in conventional works and realizes that the true love based on equality and understanding is the key to achieve harmonious heterosexual relationship, symbolizing the maturity of Carter's feministic consciousness.Through the analysis, the author finds that Carter disavows any kind of hegemony, and a balanced and harmonious heterosexual relationship is her final pursuit.Carter's contemplation on heterosexual relationships is of far-reaching significance and draws a splendid blueprint for the realization of equal heterosexual relationship and social harmony.
