Research On Cai Heting's Painting Art

Cai Heting is a versatile artist from Fujian and is popular across China.He played an active role from the Republican period to the initial period of new China.He was good at stage art and Chinese paintings.He had certain representativeness and influence in modern painting art history.Cai Heting was enlightened by the founder of Fujian opera "Fuzhou style",Yu HongGuan learned the stage art setting techniques from him.He was talented indeed.Later in the 1930s andl940s,he lived in Shanghai.He was known as "the king of youth stage setting" since he dared to innovate,was good at combining the East with the West and creating the new style of light scene setting.At the same time,his art works covered across the whole country,including Shanghai,Beijing,Shanxi,Gansu,Zhejiang,Fujian,Guangdong,Hong Kong and Macao etc.He was popular and much-loved among the celebrities and large citizens because of his all-inclusive art style,elegant and beautiful paintings.His painting style was greatly influenced by literati painters of the Song and Qing Dynasties as well as the local painters of Fujian.Then he absorbed Ren Bonian and Wu Changshuo,the experts of modern Shanghai painting style,integrated rich experience of stage art,borrowed the West painting techniques,broke the aesthetic program of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,made statues full of realistic modern sense as well as literati's writing aura.Finally,he developed his unique new painting style of traditional paintings.After the 1950s,Cai Heting settled in Xi'an.He made friends with the founders of Chang'an painting style,Zhao Wangyun and Shi Lu.He worked with many important painters of Chang'an painting style to set up Smartweed Painting House,including Fang Jizhong,Kang Shiyao,Zheng Naiguang,He Caixia etc.He really made a difference to the further development of Chang'an painting style and had certain an influence in Xi'an art circle.In his later age,he was engaged in developing paintings of flowers,birds,figures,especially mountains andwater.He combined revolution idealism of the new era with aesthetic ideology well,tried to review the traditional ink and wash paintings,integrated his own life experiences and finally developed the individual painting art full of the obvious flavor of the times and the individual painting art with the traditional ink and wash paintings' spirits.The paper mainly sorts out the art life of Cai Heting to set up the study framework.Then it explores the cause and the features of Cai Heting's paintings art from era background,cultural environment,regional style and local painting style etc.It also discusses Cai Heting 's art works from theme,design,shape,color,paintbrush method etc,summarizes his painting performances and rules,analyzes his art achievements and influence based on an objective perspective and a matter-of-fact attitude.
