Strategies To The Translation Of Chinese Web-novels

In the era of Internet,the Chinese web-novels are entering the global market at a very high speed,and are taking up a rather large part of this market.At the same time,the creation and promotion of web-novels are being commercialized.This fact,coupled with the new situations facing the translation of such web-novels,which are “the immediate feedback from readers and their interaction as well as the interaction between readers and the author” and the fact that “Chinese web-novels are popularized in the global market”,are posing challenges for the translation of Chinese web-novels to English.This paper explores three aspects for a better translation of web-novels,namely from sounds,cultural image,and pacing,specifically,the strategies are to apply the rules of rhyming and onomatopoeia to make the translation sound more appealing,to use pinyin and notes to translate cultural image with Chinese characteristics,and to apply deletion to maintain pacing.It is my hope that this paper will serve for the study in the field of Chinese web-novels translation.
