The Research On "Jiu Mashang" And "Mashang Jiu"

"jiu mashang" and "mashang jiu" is two adverbs that we frequently used in Chinese,and Chinese teachers are needed to solve this important grammar problem when teaching of Chinese as a second language.In this paper,on the foundation of the predecessors' researches,the writer analyses the adverbs structures "jiu mashang" and "mashang jiu"independently.The main contents of the paper are as follows.Firstly,the paper explained the usage form of "jiu mashang",which is to express the order of actions or events,and to show that the actions or events associated with each other.Secondly,the writer analysed the usage form of "mashang jiu",which contains not only that of "jiu mashang",but also has its own ones.That is,to use in a statement to make a promise,and to use in an imperative sentence to order others do something,and also can be used to express subjective speculations and urgent psychological activities,and can be used with negative adverb.Thirdly,the writer contrasts the two adverbs structures "jiu mashang" and "mashang jiu" in detail.In the first place,"jiu mashang" and "mashang jiu" have two forms of same structure.When expressing orders of actions or events successively,the two actions or events connected by“jiu mashang”show a certain causal relationship,while that connected by“mashang jiu”is a simple sequentail relationship without causal relationship.And on the expression of relationship of two actions or events,"jiu mashang"focuses on the correlation,wichis is,the implementation premise causes the corresponding results;while "mashang jiu" emphasizes the sequence between the actions or events.In the second palce,the possibility of replacement of "mashang jiu" is very high,when expressing the connections between two conditions,it can be replaced by“jiu mashang”,but "mashang jiu" is much better to use than "jiu mashang" because of natural cohesion.On the other hand,"mashang jiu" is not that easy to be replaced.Although "mashang jiu”can be replaced by“jiu mashang”when expressing sequences and correlations.But after replacing,the emphasis of the sentence changed.
