Due to the shock which was brought by the Boxer Rebellion in the beginning of 20th century,the preaching of Christianity in China turned to be adapted to locality.Therefore,more and more Chinese preaching bands sprung up.The Biola Preaching Bands,which was organized by Frank Keller,an American Missionary of China Inland Mission,was rooted in the rural region of Hunan,Jiangxi and Guangxi.The Biola Preaching Bands developed a preaching channel with unique characteristics in the rural region which with huge potentiality.The Biola Preaching Bands was founded in 1910,extended to the Biola Preaching Bands of Hunan,Jiangxi and Guangxi,then was incorporated by Hunan Bible Institute,which was lasted for 40 years.During the period of 1910-1950,the Biola preaching Bands not only preached the doctrine of Gospel,distributed religious books,persuaded people to be converted to Christianity,but also attached importance to the cultivation of local Missionary.The Biola Preaching Bands multiplied its preaching methods by holding a demonstration,hiring boats,visiting house by house,mailing to families;Furthermore,it cooperated with other Missionary Societies and assisted the establishment of Missionary Station in rural region,appealed to the preaching of Christianity in villages,emphasized the woman’s role in the family’s religious belief.These concepts helped the Christianity’s popularity among the people in rural regions in Hunan,Jiangxi and Guangxi and influenced the traditional social structure and folk belief profoundly.The Biola Preaching Bands witnessed the concept of rural preaching,China convert to Christianity and the localization of Christianity in the first half century of 20th century.It also demonstrated both Missionaries and Chinese followers ’s practice and tries of preaching under the new circumstance in new century.
