SORRY,I'M BRITISH! is a comprehensive introduction to British. The author uses a wealth of information and accurate descriptions in order from A to Z to fully interpret British culture, customs, institutions, life and other areas. Each term of this book is closely related to the British. The thesis, based on translation from chapters D to I explores how to accurately convey the British humor expression.British humor is produced in England, and it is the general term for some comic languages or actions.British people are not famous for their humor, which is an indispensable aspect of British culture. This sense of humor, which seems to be born with British people, makes them proud that they can discuss all themes without any taboos. In others' opinions, they are too indifferent. They don't laugh but usually smile. And they do not readily show their innermost feelings. The way they speak often stops when the meaning is conveyed. In fact, this is where the wisdom of British humor lies, and their humorous expression often does not make people feel humorous directly. However, there is a very strong sense of humor hidden under the surface of introvert. In the process of composing the thesis, starting with British humor, the first part introduces the background and significance of the task, analyzes the text content, and completes the preparation before translation. It also analyzes its characteristics and the strategies in humor translation. In the source text, the writer thinks that the characteristics of British humor are described as implicit, ironic, and metaphorical. In the process of translation, the translation strategies of British humor adopted by the writer include semantic cohesion, explicitation of implicit logic;pragmatic equivalence, illumination of ironic intention and contextual analysis, domestication of metaphorical expression. Finally, the thesis summarizes the problems and thoughts that have not been solved in translation practice and the inspiration and prospect for the future practice.Through the study of English humor translation in the source text, the author hopes to deepen people's cognition of British cultural characteristics.
