As an essential part of art songs,classic Chinese ancient art song is a perfect combination of classic Chinese poetry and music.The song The Bright Moon Hung the West Tower is a classic Chinese ancient art song.The lyric came from the poem A Twig of Plum--Scented Remnant of Red Lotus Roots with Bamboo Mat in Autumn,which was writte n by Li Qingzhao,a poetess of Song Dynasty.Composed by Su Yue,the lyric soprano song co nveys the feelings of sadness,sorrow and longing for a lover.As a vocal learner,the author elaborates the singing of The Bright Moon Hung over the West Tower from singing skills,emotional expression,and other aspects through analysis and comparison of existing audio-visual recordings,and thus to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of the song.In addition with reflection and enlightenment from singing experience,this thesis endeavors to make an appropriate interpretation of the ancient poetry art song The Bright Moon Hung over the West Tower.
