Directed Forgetting Effect And Internal Mechanism Of Envy In Different Inducement Method

In the academic envy is defined as a painful emotion,when others in valuable wealth,characteristics or achievements and so on better than their own,this unfavorable social comparison will bring envy.Envy is mixed feelings of frustration,hostility,inferiority,resentment and other mixed emotions.In recent years,more and more scholars have focused on envy in the field of cognitive research,reviewing the previous studies,we find that most of these studies focused on envy in the "memory deepened",while ignored the forgotten function in memory system.In everyday life,forgetting is not just failure of coding,keeping and extracting,it is also a positive adaptation function.Individuals in life inevitably encounter some of the negative events impact to them,so initiative forget is important for us.To this end,we are concerned about whether envy's memory can be effectively forgotten.In domestic and foreign research,scholars generally use the directed forgetting paradigm to examine people's active forgetting function.On the basis of predecessors,this study examined the effect of envy on directed forgetting by recall method and context simulation method.The empirical study was composed of three experiments.The experiment 1 explored the influence of the envy emotion induced by the recollection association on the directed forgetting task.The experiment 2 examined the influence of the envy induced by the context simulation on the directed forgetting.Experiment 3 based on the results of the first two experiments,we wanted to find the mechanism of envy on the mechanism of directed forgetting.Through the above research,we draw the following conclusions:Firstly,envy state and neutral state are activated by recall method had directed forgetting effect,but the effect of the envious group is less than the control group,the specific performance,there is no difference prominent in the to-be-remember projects between envious group and control group,but the score on the to-be-forgotten projects of envious group is significantly higher than that of the control group.Secondly,the control group in the context simulation shows a directed forgetting effect.But the envious group doesn't produce the directed forgetting effect,because to-be-remember projects are not seriously different to-be-remember projects.Thirdly,the contextual simulation method is more objective than the recall method,and there is a big controversy about the envy induced by the recall method.Fourthly,envy can take up cognitive resources,resulting in the cognitive resources reduced,resulting in the instruction failed.Fifthly,the mechanism of directed forgetting of item method is the attention inhibition of the coding stage.Sixthly,There is no gender difference in the effects of envy on directed forgetting.
