The purpose of English learning and teaching in China is to achieve a high proficiency particularly measured by nativelike selection and nativelike fluency.However,English learning is not able to make majorities of learners nativelike in English language usage under the influences of the Chinese learning circumstance,language teachers as well as learners themselves.Because of the different language environment,nativelikeness can not be realized thoroughly.An increasing number of researchers focus on chunks application to improve English learning and teaching.The research questions are:what are the variables influencing PC application in English writing?What are influences of PC application on English writing?What are effects of PC application on English essay assessments?This empirical study involves the voluntary students from Zhejiang Gongshang University and Angelia Ruskin University and covers validity analysis,reliability analysis,descriptive analysis,correlation analysis and T-tests by means of SPSS.It is found that genders influence EFL Chinese learners' PC application in English writing but have no influence on ENS;Chinese learners have a stronger consciousness of PC application in English writing than British learners;PC application tends to decrease word types in English essays but has no influence on writing time;PC application can improve the English writing quality,particularly of expressions and logic,for both ENS and EFL Chinese learners.PC application helps improve the nativelike selection and nativelike fluency in foreign language learning.
