Computational Modeling And Random Generation Of Well-Kown Styles Of Paintings | | Posted on:2018-07-28 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:P J Yan | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2335330542485009 | Subject:Software engineering | | Abstract/Summary: | | | An abstract painting or abstract art is one which doesn’t relate to anything external or try to"look like"something.Instead,the color and form are the subject of the abstract painting[4].It’s completely non-objective or non-representational.Abstract paintings express their painter’s strong emotion by the way of using random combination of varied graphics,which is already used in many fields.First,a house can be more tasteful with a famous abstract painting on the wall,which means abstract art can be applied to house decoration in modern style.Second,it can be applied to many areas,such as fashion design or product packaging.Automatically modeling and generating abstract paintings will bring many benefits to our world.Computer generated artwork is both a challenge and an inspiration for artists,who may be inspired to create more innovative works of art.We start the article in the meaning and origin of abstract art.The possibility of abstract painting generation is proved according to Kandinsky’s theories.After studying the details of Several Circles and Weiches Hart(two of his paintings),we designed a program to simulate them in Processing program language.The results are not limited to these paintings,rather,a certain degree of flexibility is maintained for more varied images.In this way,all kinds of pseudorandom forms similar to the original paintings can be created.We also attempted to integrate these two styles.The second part of the thesis focuses on Picasso’s cubism style.We explored the characteristics of his paintings in Cubism period and their important artistic influence.A program is designed to simulate one of his paintings called Ma Jolie after a detailed analysis of the original painting.We also studied the causes of the stereoscopic perception in western paintings and extracted important elements.We designed algorithms for each element,which was assembled together in a hierarchical manner.Our program can get images in different details of the same style. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | simulation, generative art, abstract painting, Kandinsky, Picasso, Processing, random generation | | Related items |
