Translation Process Of Conceptual Metaphors

Modem cognitive linguistics holds that conceptual metaphor not only covers the metaphorical expressions,but also covers the entire range of human behaviors and thinking mode.This thesis attempts to provide empirical study and theoretical support for the systematicity of conceptual metaphor in autobiography and the metaphoric nature of political behavior.In this thesis,four kinds of conceptual metaphors(Ontological metaphors,structural metaphors,orientational metaphors,container metaphors)from the book Decision Point will be identified on the basis of Conceptual Metaphor Theory.The research on the 214 metaphorical expressions illustrates that two kinds of manifestation can be summarized:translation on same conceptual metaphor and translation on discrepant conceptual metaphor.In accordance with Network Model of Conceptual Integration Translation,the translation processes of conceptual metaphor can be divided into five steps,namely blending of Source Space and Target Space,cross-space mapping of Source Space and Target Space,projection to the Generic Space of Source Space and Target Space,projection to Blending Translated Space,generation of Blending Translated Space.The conclusion of the research is as follows:1)With the application of frame networks to conceptual metaphors of same TF topology and TS topology,the blend text of translation helps TF topology and TS topology inherit from both Source Space and Target Space with the translators' adoption of the translation strategy of corresponding.2)With the application of frame networks to conceptual metaphors of same TF topology and different TS topology,the TF topology shared by the Source Space and Target Space is mapped onto the Blend Translation of Text,while the TS topology from the Target Space is projected to the Blend Translation of Text with the translation strategy of addition of metaphorical expression.
