Language is the most powerful tool for different countries and cultures to achieve communication.With the development of China’s exchange with the outside world,consecutive Interpreting(CI),a common form of interpreting,has been widely used on different occasions.CI of high quality contributes positively to the successful exchange of information.However,due to limited professionalism,many interpreters often make different kinds of errors in CI practice,which seriously undermine the quality of communication.Therefore,it is necessary to explore effective strategies in interpreting practice.This paper is a report on the author’s field practice as a consecutive inter:preter in the light of the Skopos Theory.The author reflects on the errors she made in the practice and tries to find out the reasons behind them,on the basis of which she put forward some suggestions to help enhance CI performance.The author sums up and analyzes three types of main errors in her CI practice,such as wrong interpretation and pretermission,lack of fluency,and rigid interpretation.And then in the light of the three main principles and the translation brief proposed in the Skopos theory,the author gives some suggestions concerning preparation work,translating strategy choices,and daily training,hoping that it will provide some help for the beginners of CI learning.
