Chinese Translation Of The Subtitle Of Children’s Film

The global cultural communication is becoming closer and closer.Foreign films have become the most popular form.In recent years,China has imported a large number of English films,many of which are children’s films.The reason why children’s films are popular is that children can enjoy movies,meanwhile,learn some knowledge.The reason why those two children’s films——Zootopia and The Jungle Book are popular in 2016 is that stories are fascinating and subtitle translation is successful.This article will take them as examples to explore the success of the subtitle translation of these two films.This paper is based on the theory of communication,and combines some translation strategies of subtitle translation,taking Zootopia and The Jungle Book as the corpus.The purpose of this paper is to analyze advantages of the subtitle translation of those two films,and to discuss the significance and guidance of the communication theory in the subtitle translation of children’s films,and summarize the translation strategies which are suitable for subtitle translation of children’s film.Four translation strategies are summarized:free translation,additional translation,colloquial translation and mouth shape-based translation.I hope that this paper can provide reference for other translators in subtitle translation to translate better.
