Identity refers to the psychological process in which individuals or groups integrate with other individuals or groups in emotion or belief.Individuals and groups need to be established as individuals and groups of individuals in society.What kind of cultural identity,which stand in the perspective of culture,which has an important significance for the construction of the whole social reality system Since twentieth Century,the political,economic and ideological changes in the world have made the identity problem always an important topic of cultural studies,and the change of context has become a problem area that must be involved in the identity problem.For different reasons,Hong Kong,which is a part of the China,has been British colony for more than 100 years.Because of Hong Kong's history and its special geographical location,Hong Kong gradually mixed the West Culture and local Lingnan culture.People in Hong Kong should have a strong sense of identity.However,after the return of Hong Kong,some contradictions aroused between the people of the two places.It leads us to realize that the return of dominion does not mean that the psychological return.Hong Kong and the Mainland are working closely and exchanging frequently in the past twenty years,then they are gradually narrowing the gap in the process of common development.We can imagine that people in Hong Kong are aware of the Mainland's changes.At the same time,the psychological identity will gradually increase and political affiliation will gradually tilt to the Mainland.Through the most important form of Hong Kong's culture,we can see the transformation of Hong Kong's cultural changes.Movies imply the new model of cooperation and development between the Hong Kong and the Mainland.Hongkong film is an important part of Hongkong culture,from late 70s onwards,the Hongkong film has hitherto unknown brilliance,for culture and identity of the part of Hong Kong independent style,the formation of a worldwide huge resonance.While Tsui Hark is growing up together and the Hongkong film director,his films of various types,styles,whether it is a martial arts film or art film,whether it is fashion costume film or film,are showing a strong identity for intention,so,in his film,not only fully reflect the diversity of the culture of Hongkong,also reflected in such a cultural form,the people of Hongkong is the total process to start development and complete identity.This essay divided into three portions.The first part is the introduction,briefly describes the background and significance of this essay.It defines some specific concepts,and summarizes the current research results.The first chapter to the third chapter in second part is the core of this essay,according to the order of time,during the colonial period,before and after the return,we will study the Tsui Hark's films which are relative with self-identity.the study combined the history of Hong Kong and the characteristics of space,showing the Hong Kong culture from the" Floating city "to the culture back to nature of a clear sense of behavior.The third part summarizes the full text and explains the shortcomings of the study.It will help the improvement in future research.
