Every creator hopes to explore the in-depth connotation hidden in the background of works. And the realistic significance this paper lies in discovering the thought and social soil where the series of oil paintings “Ruins” have taken root.As the creation subject, ruins are themselves multi-perspective,and this paper discusses the significance from three aspects. At first, ruins represent the fading and devastation of double-level significance of time and spirit, and this kind of fading includes natural consequence and artificial consequence, which contains reflection and concern about historical and social phenomenon;secondly, ruins integrate remembering and new life, are the nostalgia towards the past and expectation of future.Exploration of these two aspects provides two spiritual orientations for future artistic creation.Thirdly,in painting, various artists and creators regard ruins as the subjects to be expressed. They deliver greatly variant ideas and opinions, continuously enriching and expanding the connotation of ruins.Creation of the author is about the record and explanation of creating process, which interprets the painting process from perspectives of picture-composition,color and texture & brushwork, which involves the thinking process of coming into and solving problems;dialectically analyzing sense and sensibility and recording of their permeation;the author's thinking of human-nature relation and human-society relation reflected by ruins;how to deliver the subtle relation among these three aspects towards the audience through painting.Re-creation and interpretation of ruins has laid the foundation for future art creation.
