The traditional freehand figure began to mature until the Five Dynasties and Song Dynasty.what's more,after the Yuan,Ming and Qing dynasties' efforts,there are a lot of valuable masterpieces left for generations.Since the 20 th century,artist introduce Western knowledge,which led traditional paintings headed by literati to faced with an unprecedented blow.Not only in terms of sketch,sketches and ink fusion,but also the rise of experimental ink and abstract ink after "85 trend" all have given pen and ink language more content.It is true that in the process of writing,painters at different periods has a greater difference in style,so i can only choose the most typical representative of the painter to carry out my research in this paper.There are maybe have some error or not enough to explain comprehensively.But i combing the development of freehand figure painting,list the representative of the traditional,modern,contemporary freehand artists and their works respectively for comparison.In the result of this,i can draw the difference between contemporary and traditional drawing language.In the end of the paper,i combined with personal creative practice to explain the innovation and development of pen and ink language in Contemporary different styles of freehand painters.Based on tradition,i believe that the language of contemporary pen and ink through absorbing the superiority of all kinds of art widely,it will be more successful in the future.
