"The Story of a Noble Family" was written by Zhang Henshui,the author introduced the love story of civilian woman Leng Qingqiu and young nobleman Jin Yanxi,the story reflected the women's change of thought after the May 4th Movement."Anna Karenina"was written by Lev Tolstory.It described the affair between noble woman Anna and her lover Wolensby,discovered the problems in Russian upper-class and family.Showed the sham and cruel of Russian society,denounced the patriarchal value system.The awakening of female self-awareness is the same topic of the two works.The results of the two works are both tragedies.This thesis intends to study the influence of the patriarchal value system of the women in feudalism society.The thesis is composed of five parts.Chapter One is devoted to introduce the similarities of the two works and the significance of writing.Chapter Two introduces the status quo of the patriarchal society in China and in Russia,and the effect of patriarchal value system on the love and marriage at that time.Then the analysis of the major characters and main plots of the two works from the perspective of patriarchy.Chapter Three elaborates on the same topic of the two novels----The awakening of female self-awareness.By analyzing the character of the hero and heroines in the two works,we can recognize and understand the awakening of female who were oppressed by the patriarchal and affected by western thoughts.Chapter four deal with the ending of the two novels.Analyzes the background of the ages of the two works and the writers,discovers the necessity of the two tragedies.The last part makes a conclusion of the whole thesis.In addition,it also shows Zhang Henshui's historical limitations and Lev Tolstory's complex attitude to the heroine and the society.
